Academies and Pathways

Stratford is one of twelve high schools that make up the Academies of Nashville. Students have a choice of different academies offering a practical, hands-on approach to learning in fields that interest them. The Academies empower students through career exposure so they can make timely, informed decisions and discover their true passions while earning early college credit and nationally recognized industry certifications. General education content is taught through the lens of their academy while business and community partners provide authentic experiential learning opportunities at every level. 

AVID Academy

All 9th-grade students begin in AVID Academy. AVID stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination. This program fosters a safe and open culture, high expectations, and collaboration in all classrooms. This Academy prepares freshmen for a successful high school career.

In Freshman Seminar, students will plan for life after high school and learn about the career pathways offered at Stratford STEM Magnet High School.

    Academy of National Safety & Security Technologies

    The Academy of National Safety & Security Technologies Prepares students for a range of careers in law enforcement, crime scene analysis, forensic science, public safety, criminal justice, and cybersecurity. Students may choose from the following pathways:

    • Cybersecurity

    The Academy of Science and Engineering allows students to become adept in critical thinking while gaining an understanding of principles of engineering or lab procedures and scientific theory that assist professionals in a variety of STEM fields. Students may choose from the following pathways:
